Hutchinson, Kansas. I call this place home.

in July of 2024 Splinters-N-Rust with partner with the Clayworks for an exciting collaborative project with Hutchinson Regional Medical Center!  Artist Janice Richardson will be working with Clayworks clients to create new artwork for the children's wing set to open in November of 2024.

Project Park

In 2023 and 2024 Splinters-N-Rust was asked to join a cohort with multiple different organization member to participate in a 6 month long grant process we have named "Project Park"  Several brainstorming meetings in different Kansas Communities took place over several months.  Through funding provided by the Kansas Department of Commerce, The Community Foundation, The Patterson Family Foundation and DCI we will be launching some placemaking activities during the summer of 2024 at DCI park, as well as some public art installations for the community!

In January 2023 Splinters-N-Rust was accepted as a new board member to the City of Hutchinson Public Art & Design Council.  

The Public Art Design Council shall endeavor to develop a collection of public art that is of the highest quality, that will encompass a broad aesthetic range reflecting the City and the minds of its citizens, that will improve the quality of life in the area, that will be accessible to all individuals and be a source of pride to all residents.  The Public Art Design Council shall seek to develop this Percent for Art Program and the associated collection in such a way so that it is intimately integrated into the fabric of the City of Hutchinson and reflects a broad range of community input and involvement by artists and art professionals.  The Public Art Design Council is responsible for reviewing, advocating and developing public art projects in the public domain for the City of Hutchinson.  It will develop a formal structure in which to create, develop and maintain public art as well as further public accessibility to the arts.

United Way Event

  2023-2024 United Way #IPledge commitment! Splinters-N-Rust  hosted a Third Thursday pumpkin painting event on October 19th at 6pm! 50% of sales went to the United Way,

In November and December 2022 we will be donating

10% of sales for all of our holiday private party bookings!

Hutchinson's 150th Birthday Celebration

In August 2022 we helped plan the 150th birthday celebration event in Downtown Hutchinson.  We created a giant public painting of handprints that hangs in our studio today!

In October of 2021 we were delighted to join the United Way community and donate

10% of sales for the month of October. We were able to donate over $360  #lovehutch

Upon opening our new DIY Workshop concept in September 2019, we were delighted to join the United Way community and donate $1 for every new Facebook like we received during a 30 period! We donated a total of $202 in October! #lovehutch

Talk20 Hutch

Talk20 Hutch is a gathering of people and ideas in Hutchinson, Kansas. Each January and July, ten community members each get to show 20 images, and speak for only 20 seconds per slide.

 Hutch Placemakers
I have had the honor of being a part of the Hutch Placemakers group. I was excited to be asked to create some fun photo op cut-outs for the #playonplum event that took place in 2018. check out all the great things this group is doing in our community through public art.
